A total of 373 male and female players have participated this summer in the activities of the national teams, in concentrations and official competitions. An excellent base for the future of the Spanish basketball pyramid.
Those of this Monday at two 3×3 U17 teams have completed the FEB training calls for summer 2021, which have added a total of 373 young women (195 players and 178 players) from all categories, from U23 to U12, including the 3×3 format selections. They have been the protagonists of a big comeback after the forced parenthesis of 2020, again in official competitions or, failing that, in concentrations.
From the categories of the so-called Initiation Academy (U14, U13 and U12) to U23, the FEB has once again mobilized a training structure on the field that, despite everything, had not stopped. Of the men’s teams, only the U17 has not had activity due to the World Cup in the category next year, and the U16 was finally left without competing in the FIBA ??Challenger for reasons of health precaution.
The Training Academy has worked with 168 players (84 + 84), the U15 have mobilized 40, the U16 to 32, the U17 to 20, the U18 to 35, the U19 to 36, the U20 to 29 and the U23 to 13, always including the 3×3 teams.

For the FEB sports director, “It has been an intense summer, which we have prepared with the enthusiasm and ambition of always with the aim of recovering as far as possible the continuity of development and growth of our young people after the harsh summer of 2020, and we are satisfied with the result”. José Ignacio Hernández has highlighted that “We have been able to test our youngsters again after the forced break and we have verified their high level of motivation and also that in the championships played they have once again demonstrated the level of competitiveness to which we are accustomed”. The FEB sports director has remarked “the coordination with clubs and Autonomous Federations and the gratitude for their essential work”.
