Cáceres Ciudad del Baloncesto has reached an agreement this Thursday with Alberto Blanco Vila (Vilagarcía de Arousa, Pontevedra, 1970) so that from today he will carry out the general sports management of the club.

Blanco, who replaces Eduardo Pascual, sports director of the black-and-green entity until a few days ago, begins this new stage with “strength and enthusiasm”, with the aim of making it a long-term project.

He will assume the daily management of the club in sporting and organizational aspects, with the initial challenge of building the 2022/2023 Cáceres squad, with the “known budget limitations”, to face a new “exciting” season in LEB Oro and, at least, repeat the previous feat, then, “the bar has been set very high”, in his opinion.

Last season Alberto Blanco was the head coach of Lokomotiv Kuban 2, in the Russian first division.

His international performance also ranges from his years as assistant coach of the Slovak national team to his time in the coaching staff of Lithuania’s Lietuvos Rytas for several years, without forgetting his time as coach at the Slovakian Inter Bratislava, during the 2020/2021 and as Mozambique women’s coach in 2006.

At the national level, he has been general director of Clínicas Rincón Unicaja Málaga for two years, later sports director of Obradoiro in ACB, until 2011, and coach in LEB Oro of Palencia in 2019/2020. All this after some beginnings as a coach in different teams in his native Galicia and in Plasencia Galco in Extremadura at the end of the last century.

“Cáceres is a modest club in the competition but we are still very ambitious and we want to do things as well as before and remember the good times of this city in top-level basketball”, explained the new general manager black-green sporty

Thus, one of his main efforts will be to attract the fans to the Multiusos again and make them part of this family, as well as give a boost to grassroots basketball with the club’s quarry.
