· With enthusiasm and much desire

Excited by his arrival at UEMC Real Valladolid Basketball, Alejandro Mazaira, once his signing was confirmed, explained the reasons that brought him to Pisuerga. “I am very happy to be able to join UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto. I have very good references from the Club and the people who work for it, something that is very important to me. It is a super ambitious project for this year and I really want to go now, get to know the city, the facilities, about which they have also spoken very well to me, and get to work because I am very excited. It is a very important step on a personal level because I can be close to my family, and in my sports career it is also important because I join a very ambitious project. I was lucky enough to be able to meet Paco García personally and he told me first-hand about the project, the facilities, his idea with me, and I really liked everything. I did not hesitate to join this project because it brought together a series of things that called my intention and I really wanted to go. I feel excited, happy and eager. I am preparing this summer to arrive as well as possible and help as much as possible in everything that is asked of me and looking forward to the first day of the preseason and to get to work to meet everyone who makes up the Club. It is an institution with a long history, I know Paco García, who trained in Ourense when he was little, and the way he had of transmitting what he asked for and the intensity with which his teams play always caught my attention. I’m also looking forward to meeting Pucela’s fans, since I’ve played against him many times and I’ve always seen him with a lot of people, something I admire”.

Likewise, the first signing for the new season was analyzed by Pepe Catalina, sports director of the UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto. “One of the objectives of sports planning is to have an internal game of five players who can play in all games. It would be an inside rotation with three power forwards who can play outside and inside, and two players, plus centers, who play near the basket. In the first profile, Sergio de la Fuente and Jordy Kuiper are already renewed, and now with the hiring of Alejandro Mazaira, that trio of players capable of generating danger from the outside and playing inside is completed. We are talking about a player with experience in the LEB Oro and known for his ability to shoot from three with very good percentages, he shoots very quickly, he has a very good hand, a very good aim and he can do it from situations far away from the basket. But he is also capable of being able to play with the ball on the ground to post up, make continuations and finish close to the rim. Defensively he asserts his size. He is a player that we have been following in recent seasons and who from the beginning has shown a lot of desire and interest in playing for UEMC Real Valladolid Basketball, since his agent had very rewarding experiences in the past, with Paco García as coach, where their players made a qualitative leap in terms of their progression”.
