Alex Thompson (USA, 1995) began playing basketball in his native Dothan, specifically for the Houston Academy, where he became the best player in the state and one of the most outstanding players of his age. This led him to start his university stage in one of the most important sports programs in the country such as the Auburn Tigers, where he was for two seasons. After not having much prominence, he decided to go to the Samford Bulldogs, also from the NCAA, where he would finish his senior year with more than eleven points and three rebounds per game.

Thompson decides his leap to professionalism in the Czech Republic, specifically for GEOSAN Kolin. From there, in 2019, he went to Finland to play for Kauhajoki, even playing in the Champions Basketball League, but the pandemic soon put an end to the season.

In the summer of 2020, he signed for Arveto KIT SC Karlsruhe of the German third division, finishing the season with more than seventeen points and six rebounds per game. Some good numbers that led him to sign last year for the Lusitania Expert of the first Portuguese, where he has been one of the most outstanding players in the championship, training in the second ideal quintet of the season, thanks to 14.4 points and 6 rebounds from half.
