The event was held in the Palace of the Mediterranean Games and it has served to present the Spain-Romania match that will be played in Almería on November 14.

The women’s team faces the first qualifying window for EuroBasket 2023 in Slovenia and Israel. It will be the debut of Miguel Mendez as coach and Spain will play the first game of this phase against Hungary (Thursday the 11th in the Magyar country) and the second against Romania (Sunday the 14th in Almería 6:00 pm).

Mayor Ramón Fernández-Pacheco assured that handball and volleyball teams have already played in the Palace, “Therefore, basketball was lacking within the most followed collective sports, and that is why it fills me with satisfaction that the people of Almeria can enjoy the women’s team thanks to the trust of the Federation.”

Antonio Jiménez, delegate of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, highlighted that “Tourism is also linked to these events, in addition to promoting sport in schools and reinforcing women’s competitions to promote equality through sport. “ José Antonio García, provincial deputy for Sports, assured that “It is a sign of the province’s commitment to sports and equal opportunities with a team that is European champion and Olympic and world runner-up.” Finally, Antonio de Torres added that “The women’s team needs the support of Almeria fans, who will enjoy a team that has competed in all tournaments.”
