The full schedule for the 2012 Queens Cup has been released today. Ros Casares will open with Rivas Ecopolis during the first game and Perfumerias will face Girona during the even game. All games will be will be televised on Teledeporte local Spain.

Semifinals

The 2012 Queens Cup will be located in Madrid on March 10th-11th with the four top teams of the first round of the regular league of the Liga Femenina. Ros Casares and Perfumerías Avenidas have already classified while spots third and fourth are up for grabs by either: Soller Bon Dia, Rivas Ecopolis, Mann Filter and Girona.

The cup will be held in the Príncipe Felipe de Arganda Arena in Madrid. More details and ticket information will be posted soon.

Perfumerías Avenida is starting the season just like they finished it. Two titles (Europe Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup) and the regular Spanish LF season hasn’t started yet. Yesterday, Avenidas won their second Spanish Super Cup title over Rivas Ecópolis. With a complete roster and superb play by DeWanner Bonner who finished with 29 points and named MVP, Avenidas was proclaimed champs 77-65.

Perfumerías Avenidas makes history while dethroning former league Champions Ros Casares. Avenidas was challenged by Ros Casares and of course their home crowd. However,  in the second game of the series they managed to tough it out with a 5pt win (890-85) and won the second title in their history in this competition. Only 18 days ago, Avenidas was proclaimed the 2011 Euroleague Champions.

The Valencia, who needed a victory to force the tiebreaker, came out on fire on the court and opened with a 5-0 lead, but the gap was closed after a 3 pointer by Anke De Mondt (7-7) . The frantic exchange of blows placed the 20-15 in the sixth minute of a match which ended its first quarter with the score 32-24. The second half Ros Casares enjoyed a lead, however Avenidas would not back down.

During this season pure confidence has taken them over Ros (they have won all six games played between the teams), not intimidated. A three pointer by Lawson with nine second unleashes the emotion (85-88), but two free throws made by Belinda Snell closed the lead, the final and a perfect season for Avenidas.

Perfumerías Avenida finished the regular season on top as leader #1 during the Spanish Women’s League (Liga Femenina). Winning the battle against rival Ros Casares in the classification by two points. Next week, both teams will prepare for the Euroleague Final Four respectively. The match up will be higher as ever, as Perfumerías Avenida has reached the Women’s Euroleague Final two years ago, they will fight to get there once again. Ros Casares, with a bit of bad luck with key injured players, will look to make a surprise win during the final four match held in Poland, Friday April 8th.

RIVAS 63 – ROS CASARES 59

During one of the most exciting Copa de la Reina in years, Rivas a team who was not a favorite, neither much talk about them and managed to get by both leaders of the regular season by winning their first Queens Cup in the clubs existence. American, DeWanna Bonner received MVP honors and as it was well deserved, while scoring  21 points and 10 rebounds in the final game.

The game was very close throughout, however some missed shots by Ros Casares didn’t help down the stretch and top veteran play by former Copa champions, Amaya Valdemoro and Elisa Aguilar helped guide their youthful team to a championship.

Ros Casares will meet Rivas Ecopolis in the final of the Copa de la Reina on their home turf tomorrow evening. Both teams had to fight their way into the final winning at the final of the game. Rivas had to go into overtime, with missed free throws by Bonner during the final 3 seconds, but they were able to glide through OT with not too many problems.

The game will be great to watch, to WNBA standout inside players will go head to head. Both players, DeWanna Bonner and Rebekkah Brunson helped guide their team to the final, however only one will hold up the Queens Cup.
