Ricky Rubio is a sensation in the NBA Western Conference guard voting trailing votes after: Kobe Byrant and Chris Paul for the 3rd place. Rubio has proved all of his doubters wrong back in Spain, but is coming up big for Minnesota. Rubio will definitely be included in the Rookie Challenge during the All-Star weekend in Orlando, Florida on Friday February 24th.  However, he could definitely be one of the few to play in both games!

The past weeks of the NBA lockout and drama of free agents has been a furry for players and teams. Rudy Fernandez thought his new home was in Dallas with the NBA Champions of 2011, however yesterday he was traded to the Denver Nuggets.

Fernandez, has averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 218 career games over three NBA seasons, all with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Marc Gasol was offered to renew his contract with the Memphis Grizzlies for term of 4 years worth over $58million. Gasol is happy to be back with his teammates. Last year Marc had awesome post season numbers by making the NBA Western Conference Finals against the Thunder, averaging over 15.pts and 12 rebounds per game.

In the Spanish Federation there are several basketball training DVD’s for different levels. The videos are in Spanish however, if you understand basketball and systems, you’ll get the gist of the videos. Currently there are more books than DVD’s however I’m sure in the near future you’ll see more workouts and possibly a fitness dvd.

It is reported by Marca.com that Rudy Fernandez has signed and will play with ACB team, Real Madrid until the NBA lockout is over. Fernandez who started his NBA career with the Portland Trailblazers was traded early this summer to the 2011 NBA Champions, Dallas Mavericks. However, he wants to remain in top shape and will wait until the lockout is complete, while playing for Real Madrid.

Ricky Rubio arrived in Minnesota this afternoon USA local time, and straight from the airport to the court. He shot around and a few drills. Look for Ricky Rubio Timberwolves jersey soon as he’ll be a hit in the NBA for the 2011-2012 season!

Ricky Rubio announced yesterday that he would be making the big move to play in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2011-2012 season.

It has been a tough decision after being very clear for Rubio. FC Barcelona took great care of Ricky Rubio and it took a lot to make the decision.

Youth European Player of the Year 2009, Champion and MVP of the 2011 Women’s Euroleague Basketball, Champion & MVP of the 2010-2011 Spanish LF League, Alba Torrens is taking her talent to Turkey. Torrens signed last week with the Galatasaray Basketball Club for 2 years and with an option for a third year. Torrens obviously will become one of the most highest paid Europeans in the world after her past performances as a professional basketball player.

The Portland Trail Blazers have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA of late and they can pinpoint much of their recent success to performance of Rudy Fernandez.

Without star guard Brandon Roy – he has missed 32 of the team’s 55 games this season – and former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden in the lineup the team’s depth has been tested. Those betting the NBA spread know that the Blazers bench has performed about as good as anyone’s this season, which is why they find themselves in sixth place in the Western Conference.

During the team’s recent run of five straight wins, Fernandez has been excellent. He has scored 17 or more points four times during the team’s five-game winning streak and finished with 18 points in Monday’s victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He made six of his 10 shots including four-of-seven from three-point land. He has averaged 11.4 points per game in that span, which is up from his 9.1 average on the season.

Roy has been practicing with the team and is nearing his return, which puts the Blazers in an awkward position at guard. They have Roy, who may or may not be able to play starters minutes any longer, Wesley Matthews and Rudy Fernandez. Both Matthews and Fernandez can slide over to small forward but Nicolas Batum will play the lion’s share of those minutes.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Fernandez’ minutes in the coming weeks. Clearly, the team needs him as he plays a vital role off the bench but his playing time could go down with the return of Roy.
