Once the continuity of Pepe Vázquez as a first team coach was confirmed, it was foreseeable that Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre would bet on stability and therefore has reached an agreement to extend the relationship of Diego García as assistant to the Compostela. Arrived at the beginning of last season from Cortegada, the Piedras Blancas coach renews for one season, until the conclusion of 2021-2022, his agreement with the entity chaired by Amparo Villadangos.

In this regard, García assures that “I am very happy to continue. I positively value the treatment I have received from the club and the people, as well as the support that the team receives ”, explains the Asturian coach, adding that“ the continuity of the coach, Pepe Vázquez, has been very important for everything I learned working together with him and because we have very similar basketball ideas. It was clear to me that I wanted to continue with him ”, he emphasizes.

At 28 years old, the Asturian coach will complete his second season in the village of Boeza. With a higher degree as a basketball coach, he graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the University of Pontevedra after spending a year, the third of the university cycle, in the Czech Republic. He began his training studying Higher Technician in Animation of Physical and Sports Activities (TAFAD), holds a master’s degree in Sports Psychology and studies Psychology.

Regarding his first experience in the Endesa Women’s League, García recalls that “the level is very high as a culmination of years of growth in the competition. Although there were difficult moments, it has been a very satisfying and learning year ”, acknowledges the Piedras Blancas coach, happy because“ it ended up being successful because of everything we did with a lot of effort every day and always looking to improve. I hope we can continue the project with several players from last season ”, he concludes.
