AX Armani Exchange Milan bounced back from a loss to Anadolu Efes Istanbul two days ago in rolling past the reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champs 90-62 at home in a friendly game. Efes had defeated Milan 83-95 on Thursday but the Italian side gave up just six points in the third quarter to grab the win in the rematch. Both teams were missing key playes as Malcolm Delaney and Nicolo Melli were out for Milan and Shane Larkin and Tibor Pleiss did not play for Efes. Shavon Shields led all scorers with 17 points with Dinos Mitoglou tallying 15 points and Devon Hall scoring 12. Filip Petrusev was Efes’ leading producer with 11 points.

In another battle of two EuroLeague teams, Zenit St Petersburg won the Kondrashin and Belov Cup at home with a convincing 100-73 victory over CSKA Moscow.  Zenit led 13-2 after five minutes and never let up. Alexander Poythress led Zenit in scoring with 22 points while Jordan Mickey added 15 points and Jordan Loyd and Shabazz Nappier combined for 22 points and 16 assists. Iffe Lundberg paced CSKA with 12 points and Will Clyburn picked up 11 points. 

The final of the bwin Tournament against Covid-19 on Sunday will be a showdown of EuroLeague teams between host Olympiacos Piraeus and AS Monaco. Olympiacos was never challenged in a 99-64 win over Lavrio, leading 50-27 at halftime. Sasha Vezenkov was top scorer with 20 points and Livio Jean-Charles chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds. Monaco for its part defeated Peristeri 90-78 as Danilo Andjusic paced the team with 23 points, Alpha Diallo had 19 points and Donatas Motiejunas offered up 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

Real Madrid also rebounded from an earlier preseason loss, defeating UCAM Murcia 80-65 after having lost to Unicaja Malaga a day earlier at the Torneo Costa del Sol in Malaga. Vincent Poirier led the way for Real with 17 points while Alberto Abalde scored 13 points and both Fabien Causeur and Carlos Alocen had 11 points. Two other Spanish teams registered wins over domestic foes. Brandon Davies scored 13 points and Rokas Jokubaitis contributed 11 points and 5 assists as FC Barcelona downed local rival Joventut Badalona 69-82 at the Lliga Catalana semifinals. Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz meanwhile beat Urbas Fuenlabrada 72-88 at the Torneo Cuidad de Getafe in Getafe. Steven Enoch poured in 23 points in the win while Landry Nnoko scored 16 points and Rokas Giedraitis added 13 points.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne’s early season struggles continued with a third straight defeat, falling 90-61 to Chalon in the Ain Star Game 2021 fifth place game. ASVEL was ravaged with injuries and only had two professionals – Matthew Strazel and Victor Wembanyama – playing the game. Wembanyama had 10 points and 8 rebounds while Kymany Houinsou poured in 21 points. 

Elsewhere, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens defeated Apollon Patras 78-76 in a friendly game in Athens and Devin Booker tallied 14 points as Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul took over the second quarter 31-16 to down Semt77 Yalovaspor 88-77 in a friendly.
