The Spanish Men’s National Team has started their route to Turkey today for their journey and quest for another Gold Medal! Newly, added Raúl López will replace Jose Manuel Calderon who was injured last Sunday in a friendly game against Team USA in the Global Community Cup. Spain will debut against neighbor France on Saturday, August 28th .

Spain is in Group D:

The official roster for the Spanish National Team was announced by the Spanish Basketball Federation this afternoon local time in Spain. With Gasol being the only big name who has opted out from the Spanish National team, the squad looks forward to playing in the World Championships where many teams are without their stars. Spain will look to dominate and perform as well as they have during the last EuroBasket Championships and the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Spain has regained their confidence and bashed France with Pau Gasol leading all scorers with 28points.  Spain lead during the entire game and there tough defense stopped top point guard Tony Parker for France. The fight for the Eurobasket 2009 Gold is still in play for Spain, after starting the championship very bad. Spain will face the winner of tonights game: Turkey vs Greece on Saturday.
