The full schedule for the 2012 Queens Cup has been released today. Ros Casares will open with Rivas Ecopolis during the first game and Perfumerias will face Girona during the even game. All games will be will be televised on Teledeporte local Spain.

The new logo for the 2014 World Basketball Cup has made its debut today. The slogan is “The Basketball Dance”.

“Two hands, symbolising the body part most directly involved in both basketball and Spanish dance, create a dynamic graphic that blends expressive gestures. The colourful design – inspired by the palette of colours found in the FIBA logo – pays tribute to Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.”

Also new, FIBA has officially changed the name of the former, World Basketball Championships to the World Basketball Cup. Since 1950, the World Championship held the name however it will change to represent the event as an International Basketball stage for the best players in the world.

The teams have been finalized for the 2012 Copa del Rey in Barcelona.Games will be televised on the following channels in Spain: Forta, Teledeporte and Orange Arena.

Last night Alba Torrens suffered what to appeared to be serious injury to the knee during the Euroleague game against Lotos Gdynia. Torrens drove to the basket and came down awkward. Later she was rushed to the hospital,  it is known that she might have injured meniscus. The team was able to defeat Lotos Gydnia 94-80 without Torrens and is in second place after Ros Casares with a 10-2 record in Group A.

Ricky Rubio is a sensation in the NBA Western Conference guard voting trailing votes after: Kobe Byrant and Chris Paul for the 3rd place. Rubio has proved all of his doubters wrong back in Spain, but is coming up big for Minnesota. Rubio will definitely be included in the Rookie Challenge during the All-Star weekend in Orlando, Florida on Friday February 24th.  However, he could definitely be one of the few to play in both games!

The 2012 Queens Cup will be located in Madrid on March 10th-11th with the four top teams of the first round of the regular league of the Liga Femenina. Ros Casares and Perfumerías Avenidas have already classified while spots third and fourth are up for grabs by either: Soller Bon Dia, Rivas Ecopolis, Mann Filter and Girona.

The cup will be held in the Príncipe Felipe de Arganda Arena in Madrid. More details and ticket information will be posted soon.

The past weeks of the NBA lockout and drama of free agents has been a furry for players and teams. Rudy Fernandez thought his new home was in Dallas with the NBA Champions of 2011, however yesterday he was traded to the Denver Nuggets.

Fernandez, has averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 218 career games over three NBA seasons, all with the Portland Trail Blazers.
