Ros Casares has won yet again another Liga Femenina Title.  Last year they were denied both regular season title and the Euroleague, however this year Ros Casares began with a mission to flip things around with the best line-ups ever.

The Valencian team swept their Salamancan rivals in two games to win the title. Ros Casares also made history by winning a record of consecutive 30 games won.

The Final Four in Istanbul will be on May 11th – May 13th 201.  CSKA Moscow vs Panathinaikos on Friday May 11th at 17:00 local time with FC Barcelona taking on Olympiakos at 20:00 local time.

The fight for 3rd and 4th place will be played by the losers of Friday’s game at 17:00. The Final will resume on Sunday May 13th at 20:00 local time.

Ros Casares won a hard fought game against Rivas Ecópolis to earn the 2012 Euroleague Women’s Championship in Turkey.

The first three quarters were extremely close and well fought out by both teams. However, during the beginning of the fourth quarter, the power, experience and great play by Ros Casares proved to be too much for Rivas Ecópolis. Ros Casares lead by Sylvia Dominguez and Sancho Lyttle were great down the stretch.

Asjha Jones was name the Euroleague MVP, although her team Rivas did not capture the title. Jones averaged 20.3 points and 10.8 rebounds, while shooting just a little over 60% from the field.

2012 Euroleague Women’s Final — Two Spanish Teams – Powerhouse Ros Casares vs Underdog Dream Team Rivas Ecopolis. No team would have imagined Rivas Ecopolis in the finals, especially after Spanish star Amaya Valdemoro going out earlier this season with wrist injuries in Euroleague play. However, their dreams have come true and Rivas will not stop.

Ros Casares a team that has one of the deepest benches in Europe, swept through the Final Eight with ease. Sunday’s Final will not be easy for either team, it will be interesting however.

Sunday will decide the best team in Europe. Later both teams will begin the Spanish League playoffs less than six days later on April 7th.

After a great start by both teams, Ros Casares 2 wins and other losses by teams in their group, grant the Valencia team directly to the Euroleague Finals. Ros Casares will play today, however, most likely minutes will be distributed to get rest for the players.

Rivas Ecopolis has surprised teams with their 2-0 run in the Final Eight and will play for a final spot today against Fenerbahce. If they win today, a Spanish Euroleague Final will be set.

FC Barcelona booked their ticket to yet again another Euroleague Final Four in Istanbul, Turkey from May 11th-13th. Barcelona swept through the series with UNICS KAZAN and looking forward to winning another Euroleague Championship. Lead by Navarro during the final game against Unics. The team has only five regular season games left, and are currently sitting in first place, one point of rival Real Madrid.

On Friday night, Ros Casares played their last regular season game against Soller Bon Dia, making it a perfect season (26-0) thus far. After the arrival of Maya Moore, Ros Casares has made their presence more known and looking to win the Spanish League title. After a disappointment in the Queens Cup and their loss to yet again, Perfumerías Avenidas, the Valencia team hopes to finish the Spanish League strong. Next stop would be to win the 2012 Euroleague title.

Bad luck continues for professional Spanish basketball players. First the ACL injury of Alba Torrens, next the ACL injury of Ricky Rubio and now Rudy Fernandez back surgery is shaping up to be difficult for the Men’s National Team to compete well in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Fernandez, 26, has missed 12 games this season due to a lower back strain, and the injury recently flared up against Dallas on March 19, prompting further evaluation and more diagnostic testing. A date for the surgery has yet to be scheduled.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio underwent successful surgery today to reconstruct a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and a torn LCL (lateral collateral ligament) in his left knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Steadman at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo. Rubio’s injury occurred with 16 seconds remaining in the Timberwolves game vs. the L.A. Lakers on Friday, March 9.

Rubio, acquired by Minnesota with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, appeared in 41 games (31 starts) for the Wolves this season, averaging 10.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 2.22 steals. The rookie compiled 12 point/assist double-doubles and dished out 10+ assists on 15 occasions. At the time of his injury, Rubio ranks 3rd in the NBA in steals and 5th in assists.
