ANDhe barca announced this Friday the signing of the Czech pivot Jan Vesely, 32 years old and 2.13 meters tall, who signed a contract for three seasons, until June 30, 2025with the Barça entity.

The player arrives free from Fenerbahce Turkish, club in which he had played for the last eight seasons, to replace the departure of American Brandon Davies to the Italian AX Armani Exchange Milan.

This season, Vesely was the fourth most valued player in the EuroLeague (18.2)with an average of 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, and led Fenerbahce to win the Turkish league against Anadolu Efes, being chosen as the Finals MVP (16.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 23 PIR credits).

When the injuries have respected him, the center has been one of the most decisive players in the Euroleague in the last five years: champion in 2017, MVP in 2019 and three times chosen in the best ideal quintet of the competition (2017, 2018 and 2019).

In addition, the Czech interior has won the Turkish league four times (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022) and on three occasions the domestic cup (2016, 2019 and 2020) with Fenerbahce.

Barcelona’s first signing

Vesely is Barça’s first signing for next season, after the club will confirm the departures of center Brandon Daviesthe power forward Roland Smits and the eaves Nigel Hayes-Davis.

This announcement comes one day after the general director of the section, Juan Carlos Navarro, promised “exciting additions” to “form a team that is prepared to win everything” the next season.
