The one who until the end of the season has been the captain of Damex Udea, point guard Javi Fernández, joins the technical structure of the club, after announcing in May his retirement from the fields as a professional player.

The new signing of the club’s technical structure joins the work carried out by Alvaro Orduña, who this season will be more dedicated to that work, since years ago he combined it with the position of president.

Therefore, Orduña and Fernández will be in charge of forming the new club squad for the 22-23 season.

The local man thanked Sam Baxton and his board of directors for the opportunity it gives them to continue collaborating with the club and pointed out that “together with Álvaro Orduña we are going to try to give Algeciras the best possible team in order to achieve great successes”.

The Udea Algeciras basketball club highlights the professionalism and involvement of Javi Fernández with the club, and in general with basketball in the region, which have made him a benchmark among the youth academy and basketball fans in general.

Javi Fernández joined Udea in the 17-18 season in the EBA league and wore number 5.

In his 5 seasons wearing the Udeista shirt, two in Eba and three in LEB Plata, Javi has played almost two thousand minutes in 121 games, scoring 378 points and giving 197 assists.
