HLA Alicante and Joey Van Zegeren (Netherlands, 1990) have reached an agreement for the Dutch center to defend the Lucentian jersey. Van Zegeren lands in Alicante after being one of the most dominant pivot of last season and after having become a listed piece on the market.
Joey Van Zegeren arrives at HLA Alicante after signing an average of 11.1 points and 6 rebounds per game for an average rating of 13.3 credits. Van Zegeren played his third season in the league in Valladolid after having competed with Tau Castellón in 2019-20 and with Liberbank Oviedo in 2018-19, in which he shared a team with Rolandas Jakstas.
The Dutch center made one of his most outstanding performances of the season precisely against HLA Alicante, in a game in which he signed with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Van Zegeren ended the season as one of the referents of the Valladolid team and one of the most outstanding centers in the competition.
The new player from Lucent landed in Spain from the Leuven Bears of the Belgian first division. Before that, he went through the German second division which he reached after his time in the NCAA. In the university league he played three seasons with Virginia Tech and a final season with the Northwestern Wildcats.
