ANDhe Joventut de Badalona announced this Thursday the renewal for three seasons of its coach, Carles Duran, at a press conference in which the coach himself was accompanied by the president of the club, Juanan Morales, and the technical director, Jordi Martí.
The agreement with Duran was closed at the beginning of February, according to Juanan Morales, and it will be until 2025 under the format of two seasons with the option of a third.
“The renewal of Carles Duran has not come about because of winning or losing games, but rather it is the result of all the work carried out with a very clear idea and project that we share,” said Morales.

The Verdinegro technical director, Jordi Martí, explained that the club wants to have “someone from the house” to “finish off this project” in which the team “has grown by taking one more step than expected.”
Carles Duran, who was accompanied by his entire squad at the press conference, was “very happy and grateful” to the club, his technical team, his family and his players for this renewal after arriving at Joventut in February 2018 to save the team from relegation and improve their results season after season.
“We still have a lot to do. It’s the second renewal and, after each one, we’ve grown and together we’ve raised Joventut and we’ve put it where we like it and with players from the house”, highlighted the coach.

The black-and-green coach said he felt “lucky” to continue at the club where he started as a coach in its lower categories and who he knows “his demands.”
“We have years ahead to make Joventut bigger if possible,” he added.
Duran acknowledged, however, that he had “some doubt” about continuing in the team motivated by a “personal requirement” as Joventut is a “champion” club with a “maximum” requirement and in which the sports ceiling is “every time higher”.
“I don’t know if the ceiling is to play the Euroleague but it is a very high ceiling that we have and I don’t know if we are prepared. The goal is to be among the best in all competitions and try that, when playing the Euroleague is possible, we are prepared for it”, commented the technician.
Playing in the top continental competition would be a very big prize that we would like to achieve, I don’t see the club giving up playing it if it were to achieve it this season
The president of Joventut, Juanan Morales, stated that playing in the top continental competition would be “a very big prize” that they would like to achieve, and stated that he does not see the club “giving up” playing it if it were to achieve it this season, something that It would happen if he wins the European Championship and even being a finalist.
Regarding the squad that Duran will have next season, the coach recalled that there is a large percentage of players with a valid contract, but that there will be “variants”.
“Our model (with players from the academy) and the structure is strong, but things always happen in the summer,” Duran said.
