Sergio de la Fuente will continue at UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto until 2024. The blanquivioleta captain renews for two more seasons and will continue to be the watchword of the entity. The next 2022/2023 will be his eighth campaign as Club captain, all since the foundation of the institution.
216 are the games that Sergio de la Fuente carries on his back, the player who has accumulated the most games in the history of the Club. And his legend will continue to grow until at least 2024.
Last year, the blanquivioleta ’22’ celebrated his particular bicentennial with UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto, since he reached 200 games on the TAU Castelló court. To those 200, another 16 must be added in the final stretch of the season to raise its historic bar to 216 official matches, which are divided between the LEB Plata (42 in the regular phase and 14 in the playoffs) and the LEB Oro (147 in league, 12 in promotion playoffs and one in the Princess of Asturias Cup).
Sergio de la Fuente has averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.8 recoveries and 9.7 average valuation credits during the 2021/2022 academic year. As if that were not enough, the blanquivioleta power forward has been included in the Ideal Quintet of the Day on two occasions, crowning himself as the weekly MVP in the victory against Club Oviedo Baloncesto, in which he added a colossal valuation of 40 units. Throughout his career he has received this recognition twice in the LEB Oro and in this Club, recognition to which we must add a third title in the LEB Plata.
Happiness for the continuity of a special figure
Sergio de la Fuente, in this way, will face the eighth and ninth season with the Club, and he does so with a feeling of happiness and responsibility. “I am very happy to renew, to continue two more seasons in my house. I am looking forward to the new season and the new challenges. The only person who has been with the team from the beginning is me, I am very happy and I am going to try to spend as many years as possible in the team, and help the Club to be bigger every day”.
The continuity of the watchword of the UEMC Real Valladolid Basketball, likewise, is an excellent starting point for the next season, as recognized by Pepe Catalina. “Being able to start the preparation of the squad for next season with the continuity of Sergio de la Fuente as the first move is good news. He continues to perform at a good level, as evidenced by his double figures in both scoring and PIR. His well-deserved prestige in the LEB Oro means that at this time there are always other teams that are interested in him, but he has returned to being loyal and committed and will be at least another two seasons in the UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto. In addition, his importance in the dressing room as captain and his maximum predisposition to contribute with his presence in other facets off the track, no less important, make Sergio de la Fuente someone very special for the Club”.
