Sergio Llull, an international player for Real Madrid, declared that the objective at the Tokyo Olympics (Japan) is “to fight for the medals, although it will not be easy because, to begin with, there is a difficult group”.

Spain has been framed in Group C along with Argentina, Japan and a last team that will come out of the pre-Olympic that Canada, Croatia, Lithuania and Serbia play next week.

“The goal of this team is always ambitious and we will try to reach as high as possible and fight for the medals. We know that it is not easy, there are high-level teams and we have a complicated group, but we will go for it,” said Llull , in an interview with the Real Madrid website.

“On a personal level I feel good, with great desire and enthusiasm. Like every summer, predisposed to help the team in whatever way, happy to be here and wanting to start,” confessed the Menorcan player, who will continue to wear the next season the colors of Real Madrid.

“I am very excited about next season. I closed my continuity with Real Madrid for many years and I have one more left. I am very happy, eager to continue contributing positive things to the team, to fight for all the titles and for all the objectives that we propose ourselves, “he said.

The Real Madrid player acknowledged that the absence of an audience at the Wizink Center has been a shame because “basketball is a sport of emotions, of sensations and if you take away a full stands it loses a bit of that appeal.”

“I’m really looking forward to playing with an audience in a full venue. Everyone is hoping this situation improves. It is clear that the main thing is health but we must have that hope and be able to have full halls and enjoy this sport with all of them” he confessed.

One of the players who will not be in the Real Madrid squad next season is Felipe Reyes, who this week announced his retirement as “eternal captain”, as the club president, Florentino Pérez, described him at his farewell.

“We are going to miss him a lot. I was very sorry not to be at the farewell ceremony but I was just traveling with the family back to Madrid and it was impossible for me to change everyone’s flights. In the dressing room he has been our reference, our captain for the last 16 years and a player who has always left everything on the court. Apart from that, off the court he is a great guy and that is very important too, “he concluded.
