The Spanish team will return to Cordova to play an official match: the third of the qualifying phase for the World Cup 2023. Sergio Scariolo’s men will be measured at Ukraine on February 24, after defeating Georgia and North Macedonia in the November Window.

The venue will be the Palace ‘Vista Alegre’ from the Andalusian city, a scenario in which two preparation matches were already played in the summers of 2005 and 2006. On that last occasion Spain faced China, which they defeated 96-49 in a packed hall (4,700 spectators) a few days before traveling to Japan to win his first World Cup title.

This time it will be an official FIBA ??match, the third of a qualifying round to obtain the passport to the World Cup 2023, which will be played in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan. Spain leads Group G with two wins, while Ukraine has a record of one win (against North Macedonia) and one loss (against Georgia).

Last June the women’s team visited the Vista Alegre Palace, which played a preparation tournament for the EuroBasket 2021 in Valencia, achieving two victories against the Nigerian and Belgian teams.
