Spain’s Loses Eurobasket Opener With Poor Shooting

SPAIN 70 – 80 SERBIA

This is not the outcome that Spain expected during the first game of the Eurobasket Championships. However, one loss does not determine how Spain will finish or continue the tournament. They are known to improve during each game. Serbia’s hot shooting from behind the arc proved too much as Spain was in a funk from behind the arc and practically everywhere. Pau Gasol started slowly but became   Spain’s leading scorer with 16 points however his leadership was not enough. Serbia’s Nemanja Bjelica was outstanding from behind the arc and finished as the games leading scorer with 24 points and 10 rebounds while chipping in with 4 assist. An overall impressive game for Bjelica.

Spain will face Turkey tomorrow night at 9:00PM local time Berlin, Germany.
