Torrens and Rubio Named FIBA Youth Players of the Year

Basketball proves to be improving more than ever in Spain, as top youth players Alba Torrens and Ricky Rubio were awarded FIBAs Youth Player of the Year Awards for 2009. For Rubio, its nothing new and now has garnered the award for the 3rd time in a row. Are there not any other great youth players?!

Alba Torrens was cited in the Spanish Basketball Federation website about her award:

This recognition is due to join very competitive Spanish teams

Torrens will also participate in the Euroleague Womens All-Star game in March as well in Poland.

Rubio was drafted in the NBA but decided to stay in Spain for the 2009-2010 season. Now he wheres and plays with FC Barcelona and participates in the ACB and Euroleague.
