UCAM Murcia achieved their third victory in five rounds of the Endesa League with triples by beating Surne Bilbao Basket 92-87, who is still the bottom player and has lost the five games he has played to date. The red perimeter, with 51 points between Isaiah Taylor, Jordan Davis and Thad McFadden, has guided the Murcians to victory against an opponent in which the good performances of Valentin Bigote and Andrew Goodelock have not been enough.

After two and a half minutes in which the 0-0 score did not move, Eight points from Davis, with two 3-pointers, and another two shots from long range by Taylor fired at UCAM CB (18-8 in minute 7) and Sito Alonso’s men managed to stretch their lead to 26-14 with which they concluded the first quarter with Tomás Bellas and Thad McFadden also joining their team’s triplet festival, which achieved six out of 10 Attempts.

A good second quarter with an even game

At the beginning of the second quarter the university team went four and a half minutes without scoring and that was taken advantage of by Álex Mumbrú’s team to, with a partial 0-8 and Mustache pulling the Basques in attack, to get closer (26-22). This difference was maintained at halftime (39-35) after five points in a row from Goudelock, who reached the interval being the top scorer of the clash with 11.

Davis, once again plugged out with seven points that carried his signature, kept UCAM CB up (46-40), but Bilbao Basket reacted with Álex Reyes and Ángel Delgado as stilettos. The Biscayan took the lead for the first time at 51-54 after a 0-9 in their favor halfway through the third quarter. That forced Sito Alonso to request a time-out and, at least, managed to return his team to the game (59-60 with ten minutes to play).

UCAM takes the victory in the last minutes

The last period began with the exchange of baskets and maximum equality. McFadden, with three triples; and Chris Czerapowicz, with two, gave UCAM CB command again (74-69), but there was a lot left and between Goudelock and Mustache they turned the score again (76-78).

In a clash full of alternatives in its final phase, a triple by Taylor 40 seconds from the end was key as it placed the 89-84. It was the sixteenth highest value shot in 34 attempts by the granas and that aspect was key as the final success in the free throws that, this time, sentenced the match for a UCAM CB who knew how to suffer against an opponent who proved to be a live bottom player, although defeats may weigh on him and who conceded 33 points in those last ten minutes.
