Spar Girona has reached an agreement with winger Astou Traoré (40 years old) for a two-month contract that can be extended. In this way, the Senegalese player will return to the club after being one of the great references of the promotion to the Women’s League in the 2008-2009 season.
The African pivot, with a French passport, arrives to complete the squad and cover the current casualties in the inner game. The player, known to the club as “The Queen of Africa”, is expected to join the team this week.
Pere Puig, the club’s sports director, said: “Given the difficulties we are facing in the form of injuries this start of the season and assessing the financial situation of the club, we have sought reinforcements in recent weeks. The market situation was not favorable . Happy that Astou Traoré wanted to give us a hand. He is one of those players, after that season that debuted with the Uni, who has come and has given us a hand. Despite being detained for many months and thinking about a possible retirement, I wanted to come and help us in this difficult moment, very controversial that the Queen of Africa returns.
Traoré left very good memories at Uni Girona the three seasons he was in the team, highlighting the promotion to the top category, in 2008-2009, and the permanence, in 2009-2010.
