ANDhe manager responsible for the Barça basketball section, Josep Cubells, said this Thursday that the club “It does not contemplate the option of incorporating Marc Gasol” to the team while it is “waiting” for Pau Gasol to tell them what his future plans are.
Cubells stated during the Official presentation of the four team signings –Rokas Jokubaitis, Nico Laprovittola, Nigel Hayes and Sertac Sanli– that Pau Gasol “has not made any communication to us” about his future while with Marc Gasol “there has been no formal contact.”
The Barça manager assured that the decision to sign players “belongs to the technical staff” and that this “is always aware” of any market movement there may be.
Regarding the conversations for the review of the contracts of the players “inherited” from the previous board of directors, Cubells did not want to discuss the particular case of Nikola Mirotic and affirmed that “they continue looking for beneficial solutions for both the club and the players.”
“Meetings are being held with both the agents and the players and everyone knows the club’s (financial) situation. We continue to look for formulas,” added the manager.
Cubells commented that the four signings made this season make the team “more powerful and balanced”, for which he congratulated the technical staff headed by Juan Carlos Navarro for this. The manager said that with these hires they face “with great confidence” this season.
The Barça manager also announced that on Sunday Barça’s debut in the Endesa League at the Palau Blaugrana against UCAM Murcia will be able to attend 3,000 spectators.
