ANDhe Barcelona will know tonight if they play the final of the Endesa League, but they have not neglected next season and have spent time trying to strengthen themselves. Thus, the Catalans have managed to tie the signing Sertac Sanli, a 29-year-old 2.12-meter Turkish center (he turns 30 in August) who plays for Anadolu Efes and defeated them in the Euroleague final.
The Ottoman player, as reported by journalist Ismail Senol, has received “an astronomical offer.” He will sign for two years with Barcelona and will receive around two million euros, which will make him the highest paid Turkish player in Europe. Last season he had averages of 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and a PIR of 7.3. He is a rocky pivot that is difficult to cross in defense and has resources in attack, as shown by his 66.1% in shots of two and his 34.9% in triples.
The arrival of Sanli will be the starting signal for the reconstruction that Sarunas Jasikevicius wants in the Barça team. Some players have their continuity impossible, such as Artem Pustovyi and Leo Westermann, and others with a contract will be able to leave the team, such as Víctor Claver and Adam Hanga, who have one season remaining, and captain Pierre Oriola, which ends in 2024 All three have seen their minutes greatly reduced in recent months.
Sanli could fill the gap left by Pustovyi and, probably, Oriola and Pau Gasol, whose continuity is still up in the air. The Turk would make a powerful inner pair with Brandon Davies who, both in the Endesa League and in the EuroLeague, should face the one formed by Walter Tavares and Vincent Poirier at Real Madrid.
