Movistar Estudiantes adds outside shooting with the arrival of Johnny Dee (guard, 1.83m., 1992). With a good experience in LEB Oro, the American adds two promotions to Liga Endesa in 2019 and 2020.

Born in Denver, Johnny Dee comes from a family of athletes. NFL player father, athlete mother, basketball player sister… And Olympic gold grandfather! Don Dee, Johhny’s paternal grandfather, was part of the US team that won in Mexico 68.

Trained at the University of San Diego (NCAA1), he came out of there as a true reference: historical leader in points and triples (scored and released), named in the best quintet of his conference twice, and several times as a player of the week.

Reliability from the arc and LEB experience In his first year as a pro, he made first place at Bosnian HKK Siroki, then moved on to Poland. Both with the Balkan team and with Polpharma Starograd Gdanski he left very good feelings, standing out as a reliable scorer.

This 2021-22 will be his fifth season in Spain, after 3 in LEB Oro and one in Liga Endesa. In the summer of 2017 he joined the ranks of Saenz Horeca Araberri, finishing the course with 15.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 47.5% in triples.

That large percentage from outside the arc has been a constant, always remaining above 40%. With Coosur Real Betis, also in LEB Oro, he signed 43.7%, with 12.1 points per game and achieved his first promotion to Liga Endesa.

He arrived in San Sebastián for the 2019-20 season, in LEB Oro, achieving promotion again (15.2 points) and continuing in the following campaign in ACB. In this last season with Acunsa GBC, his first in the Endesa League, he was one of the most outstanding players and he collaborated in the victories of his own, with 6 games with 20 or more points.

This is the second signing of Movistar Estudiantes after the arrival of Javi Beirán this Tuesday 3.
