ORNicaragua has closed its third signing of the summer market. It’s about Michael Eric. The Nigerian pivot comes to complete the interior game of the Malaga team. He signed until the end of the academic year, although his contract contained a clause by which he could belong to the Fotis Katsikaris painting for one more campaign. His 33 years and his 2.10 meters of height make him a reinforcement that contributes in two aspects. The first is experience, something that the typesetter staff needs. The second is physical power, one of the problems that Unicaja had last year, especially during Luis Casimiro’s stage.

Last season Eric started in the ranks of Turk Telekom, where he had very good numbers. In the Turkish league he averaged 10.95 points, 6.1 rebounds and a PIR of 13.1 in 20 games, while in BCL his averages were 12.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and a PIR of 15 in 6 games. These great performances led him to make the leap to CSKA Moscow, a team with which he played the Final Four of the Euroleague and won the VTB League title. In the maximum continental competition he had averages in 13 games of 5.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 6.4 PIR, while in the VTB his numbers were 6.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 8.3 PIR, also in 13 games played.

Eric, born in Lagos (Nigeria), has a North American training at Temple University and has a long history in European basketball. He has gone through the Greek, Italian, Turkish, Spanish leagues and the aforementioned VTB League with CSKA. In our Liga Endesa enjoyed two different stages, in the 2016-17 season in the ranks of Bilbao Basket and in the 2019-20 with Baskonia, the year in which he won the ACB title in the Exceptional Phase played in Valencia. In addition, it should be noted that at the European level he won the 2017-18 Eurocup title with Darussafaka.
