The Spanish men’s and women’s teams will play their respective preparation matches against France this Thursday. The Martin Carpena from Malaga it will host a basketball party with two top-level matches against teams whose rivalry is already historic. With all the tickets sold for both events, it is impossible to find a better setting for what will be the last preparation matches for Tokyo 2020 in Spanish territory.

The first to take action will be the boys. At 19:30 (Four), the Men’s National Team will take to the track to face France for the first time since the Rio 2016 Games. The memories of that clash are more than good as Spain overwhelmed the French in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The team led by Sergio Scariolo comes to this match after collecting very good feelings in the first two tests against Iran.

The last two victories have served to warm up engines for tomorrow’s great game. The French team will be presented with their final list and wanting to prove themselves on the track, since it is the first preparation match they are playing.

For its part, Women’s Selection will play at 22.00 (Teledeporte) in a match that will mean the premiere of the women’s team in Malaga and that will serve as a reunion after the well-deserved break after the EuroBasket. One of the great incentives will be to see Alba Torrens and Tamara Abalde, who return to the call. For his part, Astou Ndour will cause loss, since he is in the ranks of the Chicago Sky in the WNBA. In the next few days, the pivot will return to work under Lucas Mondelo.

The Coach currently has 13 players at his disposal. While France, as in men’s, will play with the 12 players who will attend the Games. It is the third time that both teams have met this year, as they met at the end of May in Toulouse in what were the first two friendly matches in preparation for the EuroBasket. A tournament in which France finished in second position after losing to Serbia in the final in Valencia.

Sergio Llull: “It’s going to be a good test”

“The preparation is developing well, the team is training well, in a good line of work, with intensity and concentration”, Sergio Llull assured this afternoon, who also explained that “The first two games have gone well as a contact, and now it is true that tomorrow the rival is from a larger entity.”

The Menorcan values ??that France “It is a very physical team, very athletic, which is sure to make things very difficult for us, so it will be a good test to see what level we are at right now.” For Llull, one of the keys to facing the French is “Control the rebound, and in attack move the ball well.”

Alba Torrens: “I am very happy to be here”

“It was a difficult situation for everyone, but that is now in the past. We are back and I am very happy to be here. Rest has been very important to disconnect in every way. In the EuroBasket we did not get the results we wanted and that hurts us, but we have taken perspective and we have seen that we were competing at the highest level with, for example, the European champion (Serbia)”.
