DEPT. COMMUNICATION SAUSAGES PAJARIEL BEMBIBRE

After knowing last week the order of confrontations that will mark the path of the 2021-2022 season of an Endesa Women’s League that will begin on September 25, Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre is already working on the details of a preseason that will begin on August 29. During this preparation phase, the team led by Pepe Vázquez will play five games, four of them against rivals of the highest category and one, in the Castilla y León Cup (CyL) against Quesos El Pastor, with an opponent from the newly created Liga Femenina Challenge –before Liga Femenina 2–.

The first appointment will be on Saturday, September 4, against Durán Maquinaria Ensino at Pazo dos Deportes in Lugo, precisely against the same rival and in the same venue where the official competition will begin the Bercian training. The following weekend, taking into account that the LF Endesa Super Cup will be from September 16 to 19, the CyL Cup should be held, which will take place from September 10 to 12 with dates and venues to be confirmed. In it, the squad led by Pepe Vázquez will face the aforementioned Zamorano team and the current champion of the LF Endesa and runner-up in the Euroleague Women, Perfumerías Avenida. On September 14, the Lugo team will return to Bierzo Alto, while on September 18 the IDK Euskotren will play at the Bembibre Arena.

Thus, a preparation phase is created that, like every year, is apparently short. It will be four full weeks of work under the orders of Pepe Vázquez and Diego García that will lead to the league premiere on September 25 at the Durán Maquinaria Ensino track. A work-laden preparation phase is presented with the intention of arriving in optimal conditions for a first week of competition in which the Berciano team will also receive Kutxabank Araski on September 29 and visit SPAR Girona on October 3. The Bembibrense team will try to start a season with victory after failing to do so since 2015-2016.

The numbers are distributed

On the other hand, the players have already chosen their numbers. Taking into account that number 8 has been retired since the historic Gilda Silva left basketball and that there are three players who have renewed their ties with the Bierzo Alto team, the choice of numbers has not left room for many surprises. Those three players who have renewed keep their number from last season, that is to say, 7 will be for the ilerdense Anna Palma; the 9th, for Laura Méndez from Barcelona; and the 13th, for the Finnish Marianne Kalin.

There will, of course, be a new assignment with the 00 that Ainhoa ??Lacorzana will wear, while Carolina Arfinengo will wear the 1. Another national, Helena López, keeps the 6 that she wore in her time in Sant Adrià. He also maintains his number with respect to his previous team, SPAR Gran Canaria, the African Djénéba N’Diaye, who will inherit the 50 from Sara Rhine. The 21 that Itsaso Conde and Montse Brotons wore in the last seasons will be for Melo Jeter, who already took it in his formative stage at Towson University.

Slovenian Tina Jakovina, for her part, has chosen the 10 that she wore in the last Eurobasket and that Lashann Higgs wore last season. The Estonian Kadri-Ann Lass has opted for the 42 that she already wore in her time in the United States University League (NCAA) with Duquesne after taking the 7 at the Uni Györ in Hungary. Bionca Duncan, who wore 33 while playing with Louisville, has opted for the 3 that Ellen Aström had during her time with the Berciano team.

New kits for a special season

Another attraction, without a doubt, will be the new “skin” of the Pajariel Bembibre Sausages, which from the 2021-2022 academic year will wear Wibo, the most important basketball brand in our country. The Spanish firm is linked with the Bierzo Alto entity in which it will be a very special campaign for the club chaired by Amparo Villadangos, since, in addition to celebrating its tenth season in the Endesa Women’s League, it intends to commemorate the Feast of the Departure of the Santo in the town of Boeza in 2022.

Wibo’s new design will, in fact, include an image of Santo Ecce Homo, patron of the town of Boeza, on the back of the game shirt of Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre, whose clothing will also reflect those ten seasons that the entity of the capital of Bierzo Alto in the highest category of Spanish women’s basketball. Therefore, it is a year full of exciting news for fans.
