Neither his former teammates nor the youngest members of this pre-Olympic squad who have also admired him have wanted to miss him. The full men’s team has come this afternoon to the Fonteta, just arrived in Valencia, to participate in the popular act in which Fernando San Emeterio has put an end to his career as a professional player.

He has been supported not only by his former teammates, but also by numerous authorities and a large number of Valencian fans who have wanted to show ‘Fer’ their respect and gratitude after six seasons wearing the Valencia Basket shirt.

Many of those present have dedicated words of recognition to him, including the coach, Sergio Scariolo, and the Valencian Víctor Claver, who has presented him with a National Team shirt with number 19 and his name on the back. In his speech, San Emeterio, visibly moved, thanked everyone, especially his family and, as a culmination, Basketball.

San Emeterio, 37 years old, retires with a record that includes not only 133 games and 6 medals with Spain, in different categories, but also numerous national and international club titles
